CALL FOR PAPERS
16th International Colloquium of the North American Catalan Society

CATALAN STUDIES: HEGEMONY, VIOLENCE, COMMUNITY, DEMOCRACY
You are invited to submit paper abstracts or panel proposals on any topic relating to Catalan literature, culture, language, history, urbanism, media, and politics. We also welcome proposals for papers and panels focusing on the Colloquium special theme, Catalan Studies: Hegemony, Violence, Community, Democracy. The special theme aims to explore the connections between Catalan cultural, social and political assemblages and general issues related to the discourses on war, the struggles for justice, or the desires for democracy in the medieval, modern, and global periods. Particular subsections will include:
Cultural Hegemony, Minority Languages, Local Production / Global Interpretation
Violence, Law, Justice
Communitas, Democracy, Agonistic Conflict
Papers may be presented in English or Catalan. Maximum length: 20 minutes. Please send paper abstracts (max. 250 words) and proposals for panels* by October 1, 2016, to:
